A: Thanks for reaching out Jon! A heavier bullet is actually inclined to penetrate more deeply – and so is a +P round, for that matter. Now, I want you to be sure that any 38 Special round is capable of penetrating multiple walls and jeopardizing innocent bystanders. No ammo selection will save you from that inherent risk, and as the old saying goes: "Every bullet that comes out of your barrel has a lawyer attached to it." A: Thanks for reaching out Mark! It's a yes and no type of answer. Your Charter Arms revolver is in fact rated to safely fire 38 Special +P ammunition. Ovepressure ammo will accelerate wear and tear on the cylinder and barrel, but limited training and potential self-defense applications will not destroy your revolver. But because a snubnosed revolver's barrel is too short for an overpressure round's extra powder to fully combust, a +P load will succeed in generating added recoil without actually imparting significantly more velocity and resultant energy to the bullet. In other words, +P will give your revolver a stronger kick (and more muzzle rise which complicates accurate rapid fire) without the accompanying benefit of greater stopping power. But this view is not universally shared – plenty of people say that +P in a snubnose is still worthwhile. Whether you should prefer +P ultimately boils down to your personal preference, but be advised that it may only handicap you during a personal protection scenario.

Taurus's modern 38 revolvers are rated for +P, but without knowing your revolver's model and year of manufacture I just can't confidently say whether or not this ammo's safe for it. I'm fairly sure it's safe, but since a wrong guess could damage your revolver and potentially injure you I must defer to caution and advise against buying this ammo.

A: Yes sir, you're correct! Your revolver is designed to fire any 357 Magnum, 38 Special or 38 Special +P ammunition. This ammo should function seamlessly in your 586.

A: Thanks for reaching out Ron! It is my understanding that to be a true FBI load, a 38 Special +P round must have a LSWCHP bullet loaded to at least 1,000 fps, which puts it on par with a weak 357 Mag load. Remington doesn't manufacture FBI loads. To my knowledge Buffalo Bore is the only manufacturer that presently does, and you can check that out right here: buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=108
