However, studies have shown that even with a suppressor, the sound of a gunshot is still loud enough to be heard up to 100 yards away. So in most cases, it’s still easy for people nearby to know when someone is firing a gun.
Gun suppressors are also sometimes used by hunters to help reduce the noise of their gunfire, so as not to scare away other animals.
