Some revolvers have magazines – they’re just not as common. The reason revolvers typically don’t have magazines is because they hold fewer rounds than pistols (typically 6-8 rounds, as opposed to 10-15 rounds for most pistols), so there’s less of a need for a magazine. Additionally, reloading a revolver is generally faster and simpler than reloading a pistol, so there’s less of a need for a magazine to speed up the reload process. Some revolvers do have magazines, though, such as the Smith & Wesson M&P R8 and the Taurus Judge.
