Assuming you have the basic tools required for the task at hand (hammer, punch, and screwdriver), there are only a few steps involved in installing a bolt carrier group (BCG) and charging handle (CH).
- To start, ensure that your firearm is unloaded and disassemble it per the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Next, using a punch or similar tool, drive out the two pins that hold the current CH in place.
- With the CH removed, you can now extract the BCG from the upper receiver by pulling it to the rear of the gun.
- Take your new BCG and line up the gas key with the slot in the upper receiver, then insert it until it is seated.
- To install the CH, line up the groove in the handle with the pin holes in the receiver, and drive in the pins.
- That’s it – you’re now done! Be sure to reassemble the rest of your firearm per the manufacturer’s instructions before loading and using it.
