Installing a bolt carrier group (BCG) and charging handle is a straightforward process, but there are a few things you need to know before you get started. Here’s a quick rundown of what you need to do:
- Make sure your firearm is unloaded and the magazine is removed.
- Loosen the two screws that secure the upper receiver to the Lower Receiver using an Allen wrench
- Pull down on the charging handle latch and remove the charging handle assembly
- Look into the charging Handle well in the upper receiveR- yoU will see two tiny set screws securing THE BOLT CARRIER GROUP (BCG). Unscrew these With an Allen wrench.
- Once the set screws are removed, The BCG can be pulled out of the upper receiver.
- To install the new BCG, simply insert it into the upper receiver and screw in the two set screws.
- Reinsert the charging handle and close the upper receiver.
- That’s it! Your new BCG is now installed.
There are a few things to keep in mind when installing a BCG:
- Make sure the set screws are tight. These screws hold the BCG in place, so if they’re loose, the BCG can move around and cause problems.
- Be careful not to damage the charging handle when removing it or installing the new BCG. The charging handle is made of aluminum and is soft, so it’s easy to strip the threads or break the handle if you’re not careful.
- When inserting the new BCG, make sure it goes all the way in. You should be able to see the gas key through the charging handle well. If you can’t, the BCG is not fully seated and can cause problems.
That’s all there is to it! Installing a BCG is a simple process that anyone can do. Just make sure you follow the instructions carefully and take your time, and you’ll be fine.
