How to measure barrel length? Do you measure from the end of the barrel to the end near the firing pins? Does barrel length include forcing cone? Thanks!

A dowel rod is a cylindrical piece of wood that is used in furniture making and other carpentry tasks. To measure a gun barrel using a dowel rod, you will need the following supplies:
- A dowel rod that is at least as long as the gun barrel you are measuring
- A ruler or tape measure
- A pencil or pen
- Measure the length of the gun barrel with a ruler or tape measure. Write this number down.
- Cut the dowel rod to be slightly longer than the length of the gun barrel.
- Hold one end of the dowel rod against one end of the gun barrel and mark where the other end of the dowel rod meets the gun barrel with a pencil or pen.
- Measure the length of the dowel rod from the mark to the end of the dowel rod. This is the length of the gun barrel.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the other end of the gun barrel. The two measurements should be the same.
