Parkerizing a gun barrel is a simple process that only requires a few basic materials. The most important part of the process is making sure that the barrel is clean and free of any oil or grease.
First, you’ll need to gather up some supplies. You’ll need a container to hold the solution, something to stir with, a wire brush, and some metal polish. You can find most of these items at your local hardware store.
Next, mix 1 gallon of water, 1/2 cup of vinegar, and 1/4 cup of salt. Place the barrel into the container and stir it around until it’s fully coated. Let it sit for about 30 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.
Once the barrel is rinsed, use the wire brush to scrub off any rust or corrosion. If there is any stubborn buildup, you can soak the barrel in the solution for a few more minutes before scrubbing again.
Finally, apply a thin layer of metal polish to the barrel and buff it until it’s shining.
