How to permanently pin a flash hider? Can I pin a flash hider by myself to be compliant without NFA? What is the process? Thanks.
There are a few different ways to pin a flash hider, but the most common is to use a set screw. First, you’ll need to remove the muzzle device from the firearm. Once it’s removed, take a look at the end of the barrel threads. There should be a small hole somewhere near the end of the threads. This is where you’ll insert the setscrew.
Now, take your flash hider and align it with the muzzle threads. Once it’s in place, start screwing in the setscrew until it’s snug against the shoulder of the hider (not so tight that you strip it). You may need to use a little Loc-Tite on the thread to keep it from backing out over time.
There you have it! Your flash hider is now pinned to the barrel.
