I have a complete AR-15 upper assembly and it has the typical flash hider. I want to change the muzzle device for something new. Can I take the flash hider off?

If you’re looking to remove the flash hider from your AR 15, there are a few things you’ll need to know. First, it’s important to know that there are two types of flash hiders – those that are permanently attached, and those that aren’t. If you have a permanent attachment, it will need to be cut off or threaded in reverse to be removed. On the other hand, if you have a detachable flash hider, it should unscrew easily.
Assuming you have a detachable flash hider, removing it is quite simple. Just follow these steps:
- Make sure your AR 15 is unloaded and safe before proceeding.
- Unscrew the flash hider clockwise (righty tighty, lefty loosey).
- Once it’s unscrewed, you can remove it from the barrel.
