I want to replace the flash hider on my Colt 6920. How difficult is it to remove the factory-installed flash suppressor?

The reason you might want to remove the flash suppressor is that it can be quite difficult to clean. Also, the suppressor can damage the muzzle and affect accuracy over time. Here are some instructions on how to remove the Colt 6250 flash suppressor:
- First, you need to remove the gas block. Two screws hold it in place and they are located just above the front sight post. Once those screws are removed, the gas block can be sliding off.
- Next, take a look at the muzzle device. There should be four set screws holding it in place. You will need a 1/8th inch Allen wrench to remove these setscrews.
- With the set screws removed, the muzzle device should be able to slide right off. If it’s stubborn, you can use a small hammer to tap it in the front and back until it comes loose.
- That’s it! The flash suppressor is now removed. Be sure to clean the threads before you reinstall anything.
