There’s no definitive answer, as each rifle is unique. However, here’s one approach that might work on your DPMS 223 Sportical:
- Make sure the firearm is unloaded and pointed in a safe direction.
- Remove the barrel from the upper receiver. This can usually be done by loosening two screws located on either side of the barrel (near the gas block).
- Look inside the barrel and you should see a small nut or screw at the end (this is the flash suppressor).
- Use a wrench or pliers to loosen and remove the flash suppressor.
- Replace with a new flash suppressor, if desired, and tighten securely using a wrench or pliers.
- Reattach the barrel to the upper receiver and tighten the screws securely.
- Again, make sure the firearm is unloaded and pointed in a safe direction before proceeding.
