I’m new to the gun maintenance thing. Should I oil the inside of my gun barrel? It is safe to Oil in a barrel before shooting?
No. Oiling the inside of a gun barrel can cause more harm than good.
The main reason you would oil the inside of a gun barrel is to help keep it clean and free from rust. However, if you oil the barrel heavily, it can attract dirt and other debris which can lead to fouling and eventually rusting.
In addition, over-oiling can also lead to excessive build-up on the barrel’s walls which will make the weapon inaccurate over time. For these reasons, it is generally not recommended to oil the inside of a gun barrel. Instead, just give it a light coat of oil now and then to protect it from corrosion.
