Has anyone used rubberized grip tape and if so how do you like it compared to standard grip?
Unknown to many people, rubberized grip tape does indeed have a purpose beyond just looking “tactical.” It can be extremely useful in maintaining a crisp and comfortable shooting grip, especially on handguns where adequate hand-hold isn’t always possible.
While the modern-day self-defense handgun has progressed greatly in design and ergonomics, they still aren’t perfect. Many popular models still have grips that are too small for some hands or become slick when wet. Additionally, some people prefer a less aggressive texture for their gun grips while others find traditional strap checkering painfully sharp. This is where rubberized grip tapes come into play as they provide an added level of traction and comfort without being too abrasive.
In addition to improved grip, rubberized grip tapes can also help to muffle muzzle rise and recoil by adding weight and mass to the front of the gun. This is especially beneficial for shooters with small hands who may have difficulty controlling recoil. By dampening the muzzle flip, you’ll be able to get back on target faster for follow-up shots and stay more accurate overall.
So, if you’re looking for an easy and inexpensive way to improve the grip and control of your handgun, consider adding some rubberized grip tape. You may be surprised at just how much of a difference it can make.
